The officers of First Baptist Church of Langley (FBCL) are the pastor, the church staff, the deacons, a church clerk, a financial secretary treasurer, and the trustees. All who serve, as officers of the church must be active members of FBCL.

Pastor – Bro. Davies Vanpool
The Pastor is responsible for leading the church to function as a New Testament church and will lead the congregation, the organizations and the church staff to perform their tasks. Our Pastor as leader of the pastoral ministries in the church works with the deacons and church staff to:

  1. Lead the church in the achievement of its mission
  2. Proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers
  3. Shepherd the church members and other persons in the community
  4. Serves as a “pro tem” advisory member of all committees within the church

Deacons – Pat Belford, Gary Carroll, Gary Timmons, Walter White, and Shon Taylor
Deacons are required to meet the specific biblical qualifications of Acts 6: 1-4 and 1 Timothy 3: 8-13.
The Deacon’s role is one of being a spiritual leader of the church as well as serving the church in various ministry needs. Duties are further defined in Section 4 of the Church Constitution and By-Laws.

Church Clerk – Mary Carroll
Maintains suitable records of all actions of the FBCL, keeps the registrar of the names of members, record of baptisms. Duties are further defined in Section 6 of the Church Constitution and By-Laws.

Financial Secretary Treasurer – Debbie Landrum
Receive, preserve and pay upon request all bills authorized by the church, all money, or things of value paid or given to the church, keeping at all times an itemized report of the receipts and disbursements. Duties are further defined in Section 7 of the Church Constitution and By-Laws.

Trustees – Pat Belford, Walter White, Gary Timmons
FBCL maintains three (3) trustees to serve as legal officers of the church. Trustees hold the power to buy, sell, mortgage, lease or transfer any church property approved by the congregation. Duties are further defined in Section 8 of the Church Constitution and By-Laws.
